PVT - Window (formerly Pivot) from Warp Records on Vimeo.

The band formerly known as Pivot have now changed their name to PVT, due to some metal band in the States with the same name. The Sydney trio are about to release their new album, 'Church With No Magic' on July 19th and will be touring the country in August. Grab tickets for the Melbourne show here.

One half of The Tough Alliance, CEO is Modular's new golden child. Ever since seeing the teaser for 'Come With Me' last month, I've been hanging for the full release to drop and I can happily say, it was worth the wait. The album 'White Magic' is due for release in Australia on July 2nd.

Here's the new Foals vid for 'Miami'. There is nothing that I enjoy more, than seeing a bunch of transvestites and body-builders punch on, it's just quality entertainment.

D / R / U / G / S

Drugs and I don't really go hand in hand, we don't tend to get along that well. We're sort of like peaches and cream, but if the cream were like a shoe or something. However, these D/R/U/G/S are different, I actually like them, and we get along swimmingly. D/R/U/G/S are a couple of lads who are making a name for themselves around good ol' London town, with their ambient electronica.
More please.

AUSTRALIA

Two of the most highly anticipated albums of the year are being released within a week of each other (and they're both Australian acts, Yeeeeow!). Tame Impala have just released their debut album 'Innerspeaker' on Modular and hometown kings, Midnight Juggernauts are dropping their second album, 'The Crystal Axis' on the 28th via Siberia. With both bands doing national tours, things could not be better.
Check out Tame Impala's take on the Jugger's second single 'Vital Signs', it's mega!

Scissor me' timbers! If I wore glasses I'd have to take them off and give them a good wipe, cos they'd be all steamed up. . .but I don't wear glasses, so I don't have to.
'Flesh' is taken from Ed Banger's latest release, the 'Blood, Sweat and Tears' EP by Mr. Flash.
Make sure you don't show this clip to Nanna.

CHAPEL CLUB

Chapel Club - Five Trees from Chapel Club on Vimeo.

Chapel Club are currently recording their debut album with producer Paul Epworth, an album I'm eagerly awaiting to hear. The band are set to release their second single 'Five Trees' on May 31st. In the meantime though, check out a couple remixes of the track from fellow Londoners The Horrors (or Tom Horror to be precise) and New Jersey's Memory Tapes.

IAN CURTIS

Today marks thirty years since the tragic death of Joy Division frontman, Ian Curtis. Aged just twenty-three, Curtis took his own life in the kitchen of his Macclesfield home in the early hours of May 18th 1980, with Iggy Pop's 'The Idiot' still left on the record player.
Altough his career with Joy Division was only brief, he is considered to be one of the greatest lyricists and performers of his generation. His songs have become his legacy and some say the birth of indie music.
Truly an inspiration, Ian Curtis is a legend that will never be forgotten.

BURNS Q & A

I was lucky enough to meet Burns a while back when he did a show in Melbourne. Not only does he make phenomanal tunes and remixes, he also happens to be a really nice and rad dude.

1- S'Cracken man! How are you? Where are you? What have you been up to this week?

This week I've finally had some time back in the studio so I'm just working on different bits of my own music, I'm also gonna start on a remix in a couple of days...

2- You just recently did a tour in Australia. How did that go? Any interesting stories you'd like to share? Favourite city/venue?

The Australian tour was incredible, I really enjoyed it! Its so good to get to experience travelling there, I managed to have a few days off over there too so did some sight seeing, theres a few interesting stories, I went on a booze cruise with my fellow European Surkin because it was "good Friday" and it was the only place that had alcohol in Sydney! Was amazing though because we got to sail past the Opera house and under the Bridge too, at night that place looks pretty sexy!

3- Before Australia you were in the States supporting Deadmau5 on a nationwide tour. Judging by the 'So Many Nights' clip you were playing to massive crowds. What was it like touring with such a big name and were you shitting yourself before each show?

I was probably shitting myself before the first show, I've played big crowds before but I think it was probably just the sense of not knowing what to expect from a "deadmau5 crowd" They seemed to embrace the style I play so it was all good from then on. Its always good to have a bit of nervous adrenaline before a show anyway!

4- You've just done a track with Fred Falke: 'You've stopped loving me'. How did that come about? What was it like working with the frenchman?

We had been talking about doing something for a while after he remixed for a track on one of my older EP's, it just so happened that we both had a few days free at the same time so I flew out to his place in Toulouse, we kinda just clicked straight away, like we were on the same wavelength so we worked really fast together, we actually finished two songs. Fred is a legend and really knows what he's doing, we both think the same way in terms of how we want things to sound so it was incredibly easy to work with him. I'm really happy with "You Stopped Loving Me" and cant wait for the release over here in the summer...

5- Any plans to team up with any other major players?

I'd like to, I've recently worked on a track for the new Kelis album which I'm really happy with so it will be nice to see that come out this year. I have loads of people in mind but I wont name names just yet...

6- Who or what is the reason you started making music?

ME! I started making music so that I would be less bored! Obviously I love music so that was a big reason too, who doesnt love music though!??

7- What track is currently destroying dancefloors for you?

"You Stopped Loving Me" really seems to work. Also "Kiss n Hold" form my latest EP is a winner for me. I also did an alternate version of "So Many Nights" called "Show Me The Night" its kind of a homage to 90's dance music and started off as a bit of a joke song but its been getting incredible reactions so I'm thinking of maybe releasing it or even just giving it away just to get it out there...
One of my favourite tracks to play out at the moment is "If You Came Here" by Tony Senghore, its not instantly huge but it really makes me dance, its a great groove I think...

8- You've released four pretty amazing EP's, when can we expect an album?

If I'm honest I would say probably not until early next year, I could put an album out this year but I want it to be amazing so I'm only gonna put it out when I'm 100% sure its ready! I'm working on it though constantly and I'm really happy with how its coming along, I'd like to put out more singles this year and see how things go, I have a mix album coming out over here in June called "European Sex Music" which I'm excited about, its had great reactions so far from the promos so fingers crossed that will help to soundtrack a few peoples summers!

9- Who would win, Batman or Spiderman?

Batman. (has better costume)

10- So what's next for Burns?

As I said before, I have my mix album out this summer, I'm playing festivals over here and doing a load of stuff in Ibiza too. More singles and working on the album...

WILD NOTHING

Wild Nothing - Chinatown from Jack Tatum on Vimeo.

Don't you just love a record that can pick you up even if you feel like there's no hope left. Think I'll dedicate this post to the girl sitting in the other room who looks as if she's about to climb the nearest bell tower. 'Chinatown' is taken from Wild Nothing's upcoming LP, 'Gemini'. . .fucking gorgeous!

Torontonites (or whatever you call people who live in Toronto), Young Empires are pretty fucking rad. They've got a demo called 'Rain of Gold' which is insanely glorious for just a demo. Believe me when I say, these guys are gunna blow up and become the band on everybody's lips.
