BLEEDING KNEES CLUB

J U S † I C E

I read somewhere the other day that you would have to pay around $100K for Justice to DJ at your party. Whether that's true or not, that's still a lot of bread, but it just goes to show how far the french duo have come since winning a remix competition for that 'WE. ARE. YOUR. FRIENDS... YOU'LLNEVERNEEARONEABENG' song a few years back. Their new album will drop sometime this year and after hearing glimpses of their new single, 'Civalization' on Adidas' All In campaign, I was a bit hesitant as to whether or not they had taken a new direction. The new single does step away from the heavier elements of their last album ie. 'Waters Of Nazareth', but still stays true to the Justice we all know and love. Let's just hope the new album does the same thing to 2011 as '†' did to 2007, and completely blow it up.

THE VACCINES

The Vaccines seem to possess the same sort of hype that surrounded the Arctic Monkeys when they first delivered their first album. They were dubbed as one of the bands to watch in 2011 and from what I've heard, I can see why. Their debut album, What Did You Expect From The Vaccines? was released in Australia last week and it has been on high rotation ever since. One stand out track (if that's possible) is 'Wolf Pack' which you can grab below. The UK band were leaked as one of the acts to feature on this year's Splendour In the Grass line-up, which takes place in late July. I just hope they'll play some sideshows to coincide as well.

THE MORNING BENDERS

We were all deeply saddened to hear about the recent tragedies that occurred in Japan. So, it's always great when an opportunity comes along where you can help out and score some great music in the process. The Morning Benders have released a new EP, where 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Japan Society’s Earthquake Relief Fund. 'Japan Echo' features remixes from Wild Nothing, Star Slinger and the RAC. Here's what band member Chris Chu had to say:

“Last week we were scheduled to go to Tokyo to play our first show ever in Japan. It was going to be a very special trip for us, and for me in particular. I had always dreamt of going back to Japan to play music. Not many people know this, but I was actually born in Japan, and although I only lived there for a couple of years, I’ve always had a deep love for the country and its people. I cannot express how sad and helpless I’ve felt reading about everything that is happening there right now, and even though we couldn’t be there, we wanted to do everything we could to help. We love you Japan.”

M E T R O N O M Y

Metronomy's 'The Look' gets the video treatment. I'm beginning to think this could be one of the best tracks for 2011, it's certainly one of my favourite's so far and even Foals agree.

TRONIK YOUTH

Tronik Youth just dropped the vid for their new single, 'I Know'. Directed by Albert Lamorisse, the video is made up of footage from the 1956 movie, Le Ballon Rouge (The Red Balloon), and who doesn't love balloons?!
The single sees a release on April 26th. Let's just hope there's an album to follow.

FRIENDLY FIRES

Hallelujah! Praise Yoda! It's been nearly 3 years since the release of their self-titled debut LP, but Friendly Fires finally return this year with their sophomore album Pala. They teased us with the release of 'Kiss Of Life' back in 2009, but we can rest easy now, knowing a full length is just around the corner.
“Live Those Days Tonight” is the first song taken from Pala which is due out on May 16th. Start counting down.

ARCADE FIRE + SPIKE JONZE

CAN'T WAIT!!!

BLACK LIGHT DINNER PARTY

I attended Golden Plains Festival over the long weekend and all I can say is, wow! I can't go into too much depth and detail, because the amount of stories I've brought back is way too immense. I can however reveal the anthem that got everyone jumping and thrusting back at our campsite. Black Light Dinner Party are a group of 4 producers from 3 different cities and now reside in Boston, their first track, 'Older Together' is nothing short of remarkable. Imagine 100 glow sticks snapped in half and splashed upon everybody and everything within an enclosed space and then place yourself jumping around to this synth laden pop anthem. Ridiculous fun, I wish my whole life was a music festival.

CONNAN MOCKASIN

Forever Dolphin Love - Connan Mockasin from daniel brereton on Vimeo

With his psychadelic pop sounds and unique imagination, Connan Mockasin has built a reputation as quite a special artist and performer. His latest (10min) video for 'Forever Dolphin Love' reminds me of the Mighty Boosh episode where Dixon Bainbridge splices animals with people to create the mutant race, but instead of being locked up, Connan instead stalks his Dolphin love on the streets of London. Quite surreal.

Erol Alkan has also played his part by adding his super golden touches to the remix, and when Erol's involved, you know you're in for a treat!

THE SHOES

French duo, The Shoes, called on some pretty special friends to help feature on their debut album, Crack My Bones. With acts like, Primary 1, Esser, Wave Machines, Cock'n'BullKid, Gonzales and The Bewitched Hands, all playing their part on the album, you could understand why I'd be a little excited to hear the result. Check out their latest single 'Wastin' Time' below.
Crack My Bones dropped today, grab a copy here!

S E B A S T I A N

SEBASTIAN TOTAL (X Rated Version) from ------ on Vimeo.

It's been a long time coming, in fact it's been too long, but SebastiAn's debut album, TOTAL, will finally be released on the 2nd of May. If the trailer is anything to go by, then it's going to be pretty heavy, twisted and fucked up! Charlie Sheen would be proud.

M E T R O N O M Y

Metronomy's third album drops next month and their latest single has got me salivating like a dog with a juicy bone. I really liked their first single, 'She Wants', it was the Metronomy standard, but it's the second single, 'The Look' that's been on repeat for the past week or so. Really looking forward to hearing more. Metronomy's third LP, The English Riviera lands April 11.

THE STROKES

Not the greatest clip I've ever seen, pretty average actually, but it's The Strokes so sod it!
